OsteoMatrix addresses the full bone mineralisation cascade rather than simply providing calcium. Calcium hydroxyapatite forms the mineral lattice of bone, but its deposition requires vitamin D3 to upregulate intestinal calcium absorption, magnesium to activate alkaline phosphatase in osteoblasts, and vitamin K2 (MK-7 form) to activate osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein (MGP) — the proteins that direct calcium into bone and away from arterial walls. Without adequate K2, high-dose calcium supplementation is associated with arterial calcification; K2 MK-7 resolves this paradox. Bionetic OsteoMatrix uses the long-chain MK-7 form of K2 for its 72-hour half-life and superior carboxylation of osteocalcin versus short-chain MK-4.
