Nattokinase (subtilisin NAT) is a serine protease enzyme extracted from natto — traditional Japanese fermented soybeans. It directly hydrolyses fibrin clots and activates endogenous tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) and urokinase, creating a dual fibrinolytic mechanism. Unlike pharmaceutical thrombolytics, nattokinase has a 4–8 hour duration of activity after oral administration and is orally bioavailable despite being a protein enzyme. Multiple randomised controlled trials confirm significant reductions in blood viscosity, fibrinogen levels, and factor VIII activity. Bionetic Nattokinase is standardised in fibrinolytic units (FU) for guaranteed enzymatic activity.
